Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Exam is a scholarship exam. The program is funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The exam aims to encourage students to take research careers over basic science. The KVPY Exam is conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. Additionally, the program was launched in the year 1999.

KVPY is a national-level scholarship exam for students who want to pursue higher education in basic science.

Age Limit

There is no specific age mentioned for KVPY SA, SB, and SX. But, the student must be studying in class 11, 12, or UG 1st year.

Streamwise Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria for SA Stream for 2021-22 sessions

  • Students have to take admission to Class 11 with Science subjects in the 2021-22 sessions.
  • Also, students should have scored a minimum of 75% marks in maths and science subjects in Class 10th. (65% for SC/ST/PWD).

KVPY Fellowship Eligibility for SA Stream

  • It is only awarded if students join undergraduate courses in Basic Science. Like, B.Sc. / B.S./ B.Stat. /B.Math /Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. in the academic year 2023-24. Moreover, students must score a minimum of 60% in science subjects in Class 12th. (50% for SC/ST/PWD).
  • In the mean while time, students will be invited to the National Science (Vijyoshi) Camp. The travel and hospitality expenses will be taken care of by KVPY sponsors.

Eligibility Criteria for SX Stream for 2021-22 sessions

  • Candidates must be enrolled in Class 12th with Science subjects for the 2021-22 sessions.

OR

Candidate must be studying in Cambridge International Examination Board.

  • Besides, they must have scored a minimum of 75%(65% for SC/ST/PWD) in maths and science subjects in Class 10th Board Exams.

KVPY Fellowship Eligibility for SX Stream

  • Candidates must have scored 60% of marks in science subjects (50% for SC/ST/PWD) in class 12th.
  • Also, candidates must join the undergraduate program in Basic Science in the year 2022-23. The undergraduate programs are B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.

Eligibility Criteria for SB Stream for 2021-22 Session

  • Students who got admission in undergraduate courses for Basic Science in 2021-22 are eligible to apply for the KVPY exam.
  • The students must have scored 60% in science subjects in class12th (505 for SC/ST/PWD).

KVPY Fellowship Eligibility for SB Stream

  • For Fellowship candidates must score 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) in the undergraduate Basic Science program.

What is KVPY Fellowship 2021-22?

  1. Fellowship will be awarded to the students who qualify for the aptitude test with the KVPY cut-off. However, the students have to get admission to the undergraduate basic science program.
  • According to KVPY eligibility criteria 2021-22, students can apply for any of the given trades: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Ecology, Molecular Biology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Biotechnology, Neurosciences, Bioinformatics, Marine Biology, Geology, Human Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Sciences, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Materials Science or Environmental Science.

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Exam Dates

Every year the KVPY Examination is held in the month of October – to November. But, in 2021 it was postponed due to the Omicron Virus. The exam is scheduled for May 22, 2022. The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Exam is conducted in two shifts, the Morning shift, and the Evening Shift. Also, the mode of the exam is online.

The SA Stream candidates give the exam during the Morning Shift. The SB and SX Stream candidates give exams in the evening shift.
