Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is required for undergraduate admission to any of the country’s central institutions by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the exam. CUET is for admission in UG courses offered in all the participating institutions. Till last year CUET was known as CUCET (Central Universities Common Entrance Test).
What’s New in Common University Entrance Test?
- The exam name has been changed from Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) to Central University Entrance Test (CUET).
- CUET 2022 will be conducted in 13 languages.
- The question paper of CUET 2022 will include a compulsory language test, two domain-specific tests, and a general test.
- CUET 2022 scores will be accepted by 53 Central Universities and Private Universities instead of 12 Central Universities, which were the participating institutes last year.
- The application fee has been changed. Till last year, there was no application fee for PwD category candidates, but this year, they have to pay the application fee meant for reserved category candidates.
- The exam will be conducted in 13 international cities.

CUET 2022 Eligibility Criteria
For UG: Students have to pass class 12th with Science Stream. The student must have scored a minimum of 50% in Science Subject (45% for SC/ST). For BTech programs, the minimum aggregate for the General category candidates is 45 % and that of the reserved category candidates is 40%.
For PG: Candidates should have completed their graduation with at least 55% (50% for SC/ST), to be eligible for a Ph.D. program.
For Ph.D.: Candidates applying for a Ph.D. program must have a Master’s degree from a recognized university or institute. The candidate must have scored 55% (50% for SC/ST) to be eligible.

The CUCET entrance exam will be held online as a Computer
Based Test (CBT). The duration of the exam will be 2 hours or with 100 Multiple Choice Questions. Each correct attempt will earn the candidate 1 mark while each incorrect attempt will carry a penalty of 0.25 marks.
